What do you want to do?

Add a word to the system

To add a word to your personal lexicon, click Add. The Speech Accuracy Trainer opens; you can now enter a new word and teach the system how you pronounce it. For more information, see the Speech Accuracy Trainer Help.

Remove a word you added to the system

Use this function if you accidentally added a word to the system or if a word you added now continually appears in the recognized text even though you did not dictate it.

Note: You can remove more than one word at the same time; for more information, see: Working on more than one word at the same time.

To remove one or more words you previously added, do the following:

  1. In the Personal Lexicon Manager, select the words you no longer want to be recognized in your recordings.

  2. Click Remove.

Alternatively, do the following:

  1. In the Personal Lexicon Manager, select the Advanced mode check box.

  2. Select the words you no longer want to be recognized in your recordings.

  3. Click Deactivate.

The words will no longer be recognized in your recordings. However, they are not deleted permanently from your personal lexicon but only deactivated and can be reactivated or deleted permanently in advanced mode.

To delete one or more words permanently from your personal lexicon, do the following:

  1. In the Personal Lexicon Manager, select the Advanced mode check box.

  2. Select the words you want to delete from your personal lexicon.

  3. Click Delete.

The words are deleted permanently from your personal lexicon and will no longer be recognized in your recordings. To reactivate them, you must add them again as new words to the system using the Speech Accuracy Trainer. For more information, see the Speech Accuracy Trainer Help.

Reactivate a word you removed from the system

Use this function if you accidentally removed a word and want to reactivate it.

Note: You can reactivate more than one word at the same time; for more information, see: Working on more than one word at the same time.

To reactivate one or more words you previously removed from the system, do the following:

  1. In the Personal Lexicon Manager, select the Advanced mode check box. All words you have removed are now displayed with status Deactivated in the Type column.

  2. Select the words with status Deactivated you want to reactivate.

  3. Click Activate.

The words' status changes to Activated in the Type column and they will be recognized again in your recordings.

Note: To reactivate words you deleted permanently from your personal lexicon, you must add them again as new words to the system using the Speech Accuracy Trainer. For more information, see the Speech Accuracy Trainer Help.

Teach the system how you pronounce a word you added/trained

Use this function if a word you previously added or trained is still not recognized correctly. To teach the system to recognize it correctly in the future, do the following:

  1. In the Personal Lexicon Manager, select the word you want to train.

  2. Click Train.

The Speech Accuracy Trainer opens; you can now teach the system how you pronounce the word. For more information, see the Speech Accuracy Trainer Help.

Share updates to your personal lexicon

You can make words you have added available to other users of the SpeechMagic system.

If you have deactivated a word in your personal lexicon, you can share this update so the word is not recognized in other users' recordings - unless they have added the word to their own personal lexicons.

To share updates to your personal lexicon, do the following:

  1. In the Personal Lexicon Manager, select the Advanced Mode check box.

  2. Select the words whose status (Activated or Deactivated) you want to apply to other users.

  3. Click Share.

Your shared changes will be available to other users in the system after they have been processed by SpeechMagic. The Shared column lists the words you have shared.
